Super League Basketball Championship

The final weekend of regular season is finally upon the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks and they face a pair of familiar opponents to decide who they will match up against at the Playoff Quarter Final stage. The Sharks return north of the border on Friday to tackle the much-improved Caledonia Gladiators and on Sunday, they welcome league champions-elect London Lions to the Canon Medical Arena for a 4pm tip off. The Sharks themselves can’t finish any lower than third in the standings, which currently sees them go head-to-head with the team in sixth in post-season. But can they put a couple more notches in the win column to end the league campaign on a high note?

Friday – Gladiators v Sharks – Playsport Arena – 7.30pm

Ones To Watch

Devearl Ramsey – Completed a few of those trademark, lightning-quick downhill runs on his way to 20 points against the Sharks north of the border on Easter Sunday. Made 6 out of 7 shots inside and was a perfect 5 of 5 from the line too.

Trevond Barnes – A very efficient shooting afternoon, missing only one shot on his way to 14 points and 5 boards in the 86-89 loss for Caledonia. Finished with an index of 20 and Caledonia were +3 while ever he was on court.

Patrick Whelan – Played all but 4 minutes of the game on Sunday for a rewarding 13 points, 6 assists and a steal. Averages 14.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists across the campaign.

Fraser Malcolm – The Caledonia skipper did a bit of everything but couldn’t quite get the dub over the line for his side last Sunday. Ended with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals as well as draining a pair of those three point shots that he is well known for.

Ones To Watch

Aaryn Rai – A 15 point, 2 rebound, 4 assist outing against the Sharks last week for the Lions skipper who can influence the game in a variety of ways. Tremendous stats of 14.9 / 7.2 / 3.8 for the season as a whole.

Alen Hadzibegovic – Size is a factor in London’s success this season and Hadzibegovic is a key player in that respect. Fell just short of a double-double against the Sharks with 12 points and 9 rebounds as well as making 3 assists and a block.

Jaiden Delaire – One of the success stories of the campaign who also just fell short of a double-double against the Sharks. Gun shooter for a man of his size, he added 10 points and 9 boards at the Canon Medical Arena as the Lions stepped ever closer to the league title.

Tyler Peterson – A busy evening’s work against the Sharks for the eye-catching guard last time out. Filled his statline with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals as he pulled all the strings in the Lions 77-60 win.

Shark Bites

The Sharks return to Scotland on Friday to play Caledonia Gladiators again in back to back Championship games. In the Sharks 31 seasons, this will be the 19th time they have played the same opponents in consecutive Championship games. Of those 19, four have taken place in 2025 and 12 of the 19 instances have occurred since October 2021.

Rodney Glasgow Jr started in East Kilbride on Sunday for the first time since 20th January 2023. That means that Rodney has come off the bench for a period of 95 games.

Aaryn Rai returns to Sheffield on Sunday having never tasted defeat at the Canon Medical Arena. On his 4 previous visits with Cheshire and now London, those 4 wins have seen an average margin of victory of 15.5 points per game.

Sunday sees the last game of regular season. Overall the Sharks have 16 wins and 14 losses on the last day of the Championship season.
