The B Braun Sharks have made an adjustment to the helm of the team by replacing long term point guard Mackey McKnight with Californian native Jeremy Hemsley.
Hemsley, a graduate of division 1 college San Diego State University, comes with a serious pedigree of success since being rank63 in ESPN top 100 in high school and named player of the year by the LA Times.
The 6’3 shooting guard enjoyed an illustrious college career attending the NCAA finals tournament and leading his team in a particularly competitive conference averaging 10 pts 3 assists and 3 rebounds per game.
“It is disappointing to have to make a change after the season has gotten underway but given that we have probably played the top teams so far we can see what strengths we needed to add and now was the time to do it,” said Coach Lyons. “This decision is no reflection on Mackey as a professional he has made significant contributions to this club which we appreciate him for, and we wish him well.”
The signing of Hemsley was taken swiftly by the Sharks management team and with a view of starting the Championship campaign in the coming weeks.
“I am excited for this opportunity with the Sharks, I feel I can bring a lot to the club on and off the court and I am excited to get over there and start training,” said Hemsley. “This will be my first chance to prove my ability on a professional level and I am looking forward to helping the Sharks in any way they need me to.”
With the Cup games on going the Sharks have a lot to do in terms of qualifying when they face both Newcastle and Leicester.
“There is no doubt it is a difficult task, but we are professionals, and we will approach every game the same way with determination, its not over till the final whistle!” Coach Atiba Lyons.
B Braun Sharks next home game is on Sunday 29 November at Ponds Forge streamed live via the BBL’s new streaming platform Nunchee, tip off at 3pm.
