Sheffield, UK - 14th August, 2024 - The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks announce the re-signing of 6’2” American guard Prentiss Nixon for the 2024-25 Super League Basketball season.
Nixon rejoins the Sheffield Sharks for a full season after a first stint with the team where he joined part way through the 2023-24 season. Prentiss has a wide range of experience around Europe, having previously played in Finland, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and Kosovo, all after playing for Iowa State and Colorado State in his collegiate career. During the 2023-24 season with the Sharks, Prentiss averaged 9.2 points per game, 3 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game.
Nixon had some memorable moments during last season's campaign, primarily in the Playoffs, including scoring the game winning 3 pointer in Game 2 of the playoff quarterfinals on the road against the Leicester Riders to force a Game 3, which the Sharks went on to win.
Nixon expressed his excitement on returning to Sheffield, “After experiencing last season with the Sharks, it was an easy decision to make to return to the team. I really enjoyed my time in Sheffield, I loved the team, city and the fans so I can’t wait to come back and get to experience it all for a full season!”
Sharks Head Coach Atiba Lyons expressed his enthusiasm with the return of Nixon, stating, “Prentiss made a very good impression last term. His determination and mindset, especially during the playoffs, highlighted the type of character that he is and that is someone who I want back in my team. His approach in big pressure moments and the way in which he interacts with his teammates will be a valuable asset once more this season”.
