The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks are pleased to announce that their fifth signing of the close season is Joe Mvuezolo Jr.
The 25 year old British forward is no stranger to the BBL with stints at Surrey Scorchers and Leicester Riders but more recently has represented Dragons Rhoendorf (Germany Pro B), Ece Bulls Kapfenberg (Austria) as well as CB Moron and CD Idea Algeciras in Spain’s LEB Silver.
Mvuezolo began his basketball education at London’s Barking Abbey before heading off to Montana State University in the U.S., where he was on court for over twenty minutes per game in his senior year.
Last season in Spain he averaged 8.6 points per game with 2 rebounds and 1 steal, shooting a productive 84.6% from the free throw line.
Mvuezolo is known as a versatile player, who can play multiple positions and this, coupled with his athleticism are key reasons why the Sharks have pursued his signature.
Sharks Head Coach Atiba Lyons explained, ‘Joe can play on both ends of the floor, has talent as a solid defender from the help side and is a great rim protector.’
‘His signing gives us size, athleticism and depth, which are attributes that will prove invaluable to us in the coming season.’
The 6’ 6” Londoner joins Mike Tuck, Jordan Ratinho, Marcus Delpeche and Aaron Anderson as the Sharks continue to build their roster for the 2021-22 BBL season.
The Sharks take their season bow on Friday 24th September at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre when Cheshire Phoenix are their visitors in the BBL Cup group phase.
