One of the most loved Sharks of recent seasons is moving on to pastures new for 2021-22. The club bid a fond farewell to Robert Marsden, who leaves with many happy memories and the warmest of welcomes when he visits us in the future.

Doncastrian and South Yorkshire native Rob Marsden made his debut for the Sharks on 29th September 2017 at the EIS against Surrey in a 78-81 defeat. Marsden was already established on the BBL scene by this time. After completing his senior year at Findlay College in NCAA Division II, he burst on the British scene at Manchester Giants, where he averaged 14.3 points per game with 8.7 rebounds, earning himself All-BBL first team honours in 2013-14. A season split between Cognac in France’s NM1 and the Giants once again, preceded two seasons with Leeds Force, where he averaged 12.1 and 13.8 points respectively. Marsden’s move from West to South Yorkshire saw him make 143 consecutive appearances for Sharks, only ended by a broken nose that forced him to sit out the final league game of last season in April this year. A whole-hearted and thoroughly committed player, it was demonstrable that only such an injury forced Marsden to break his terrific run of games and many will think back to his role in the 2018 BBL Trophy Final against Leicester Riders. It was Rob’s 16 point, 9 rebound, 2 assist effort on 70% shooting that almost forced the Sharks back into the reckoning and gave Leicester an almighty fright before they took a narrow 90-85 win.

Rob has worn the famous blue and yellow with pride and given their all in the name of Sheffield Sharks each and every time they have suited up. We wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.
