Super League Basketball Championship
A double helping of thrilling hoops action awaits the SharkNation this week. Firstly, on Wednesday, the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks head down to the Copperbox Arena to take on leaders and SLB Cup finalists London Lions, fresh from a six point win a little over a fortnight ago. Then on Sunday, Surrey 89ers are the visitors to the Canon Medical Arena with the head-to-head secured between the two and the Sharks seeking a degree of revenge. In amongst all this is the need to secure the best possible league finish and therefore the best seeding for the big end of season playoffs. It’s business time in the SLB!

Ones To Watch
Kameron McGusty – Led the London scoring against Surrey in the unfamiliar venue of New City College, Hackney. His 17 points came with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block as the Lions claimed an eight point overtime victory.
Joel Scott – Standout forward who averages 14.3 points per game for the season. Poured in 16 points on 62% inside shooting as London took victory over Surrey by 92-84 in the Thursday night encounter.
Tarik Phillip – GB guard who is taking his place on a stacked Lions roster for the run-in to an already successful season for the men from the Capital. 13 points last Thursday came with 7 assists for the thrilling playmaker.
Deane Williams – Recent GB call-up was fully deserved for the forward who has deputised for Lions skipper Ovie Soko for a good proportion of the season. Very efficient inside game and isn’t too shabby from beyond the arc too. 13 points in the Surrey win.

Kino Lily Jr – Weighed in with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists against London. High volume scorer who is putting up 17 points per game as one of the main cogs in the Surrey offence.
Michael Graham – Imposing centre who is unerringly accurate under the basket in terms scoring and rebounding. Big double-double against London in Hackney with 17 points and 13 boards which came on 80% shooting.
Isiah Small – Doesn’t live up to his name because he is a big player for the Niners. Phenomenal all-round game sees him average 15.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the campaign. Liable to score from anywhere on the court.

Shark Bites
The Sharks visit London on Wednesday after an eleven day gap in their fixtures. This is the seventh period of 10 or more days between Sharks games this season. In their previous 31 seasons, they have never had more than 5 gaps of 10 days or longer.
With 9 Championship games to go for the Sharks this season, their head to head with all the other teams is: London 1-1 (Basket Difference 162-165), Surrey 0-3 (242-277), Bristol 1-3 (288-318), Caledonia 3-0 (242-206), Cheshire 2-2 (360-376), Manchester 2-1 (279-250), Leicester 1-0 (93-65), Newcastle 2-1 (245-248).
The Sharks have now lost their last 4 games against Surrey, including all 3 Championship games this season. Their longest run of consecutive losses against a team playing in Guildford is six, between 4th January 2008 and 24th March 2009.
Should Surrey complete the 4-0 Championship series sweep, it would be just the 6th time the Sharks have suffered a 4-0 reversal.
