Sheffield, UK - 29th July, 2025 - The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks announce the signing of Dirk Williams for the 2025-26 Super League Basketball season.
The 30-year-old shooting guard returns for his second spell with the Sharks, having played in Sheffield for two seasons between 2017-2019. After starting his professional career in the blue of Sheffield, Williams played a season in Hungary before returning to the UK to play in the capital with the London Lions for two seasons in 2020-2022 both domestically and in European competition. Dirk then moved north for a season with the Manchester Giants, before playing in France, Israel and Kosovo over the last two seasons. During 2024-25 with KB Bashkimi Prizren, Dirk averaged 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Dirk is thrilled to be back in Sheffield, “I’m looking forward to coming back to Sheffield. It’s where I started my professional career and I have very fond memories of my time here. To see the progress the club has made since I was last in the Sharks’ jersey; having their own venue and the success they had winning the Cup last season, I can’t wait to get back with the team. I still know a lot of the staff so it will be a quick transition for me to make and I’m excited to see what we can do this season.”
Sharks Head Coach Atiba Lyons stated “I’m very happy to have signed Dirk for next season. He is an athletic, talented player and I’m sure he will get the fans off their seats. Dirk began his career with us and his talent was clear to see then, but he now returns to us having gained experience overseas both domestically and in European competition, and I’m excited to bring him onboard for 2025-26.”
