The Sheffield Sharks Community programme has seen one of their former students bring their learning experiences into the world of work as they join the staff at the Canon Medical Arena.

Two years after the student attended the Respect Too programme supported by Canon Medical systems with Handsworth Grange Community Sports College, he has now joined the arena staff as an events assistant. His job entails working as part of the team helping to make sure that wide range of events that are held at the arena throughout the year, including Sharks fixtures.

His journey from being an MVP of the Respect Too programme, to securing a job at the arena is a powerful testament to the positive impact that our programmes are having in the local communities.

Marko Backovic, Head of Operations at the Sheffield Sharks said "It's always very rewarding to see how the community programmes can have a positive impact on the young people who access them. We aim to provide work related learning and tangible experiences to help our students understand real-life. We can't thank Canon Medical systems enough for their support with the Respect Too programme. Their support enables success stories such as this to happen and demonstrates that positive impact the programme is having in the local community."

As an organisation, we are dedicated to helping young people explore possible career pathways and make meaningful connections. We are passionate about providing opportunities for young people to see what is out there for them and seeing this young man's success is excellent.
