Sheffield, UK - 14th August, 2026 - The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks announce the fixture schedule for the 2026-27 Super League Basketball season.
Super League Basketball has today announced the competition format and fixture list for the 2026-27 season. A highly anticipated season sees the addition of Liverpool Basketball who will play at the M&S Bank Arena in their inaugural season, as the league expands to 10 teams.
The opening fixture for the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks in 2026-27 will be a home opener against the Caledonia Gladiators at the Canon Medical Arena on Sunday 27th September (tip-off 4pm). The first away fixture of the season takes place on the following weekend, as the Sharks travel to the Surrey 89ers on Saturday 3rd October (6pm tip-off).
Festive basketball will be a key highlight at the Canon Medical Arena this season, as the Sharks host the Caledonia Gladiators on Sunday 20th December (4pm tip-off) for a pre-Christmas treat, and will then host Manchester Basketball to see in 2027 in style on New Year’s Eve (31st December - 4pm tip-off).
Fans will be looking forward to seeing newcomers Liverpool Basketball in their first season. Liverpool will visit the Canon Medical Arena on Sunday 24th January (4pm) and Sunday 14th March (4pm), and the Sharks head across to Merseyside on Sunday 15th November (4pm) and Friday 19th February (7:30pm) at the M&S Bank Arena.
The final weekend of the Super League Basketball Championship season will see the Sharks travel down the M1 to face the Leicester Riders on Friday 23rd April (7:30pm) and then host the Surrey 89ers at the Canon Medical Arena on Sunday 25th April (4pm) in what will be the final game of the regular season in 2026-27.
New Play-off Format
For the 2026-27 season, the Super League Basketball Play-offs take on an updated format as now only the top 6 seeds will progress at the conclusion of the Championship season. Seeds 1-2 will receive a bye into the Play-off Semi-Finals, with the 2-leg Quarter-Finals taking place between Seed 3 vs Seed 6 and Seed 4 vs Seed 5. In the Semi-Final stage, Seed 1 will face the lowest remaining seed, and Seed 2 the other remaining team who progressed through the Quarter-Finals, again over a 2-leg affair. The showpiece final will again take place at The O2, London on Sunday 16th May 2027.
Super League Basketball Cup
All 10 teams will take part in the Cup competition this season, with the Sharks receiving a bye straight into the Quarter-Final after a top 6 finish in the 2025-26 season. The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks will host the Leicester Riders in the Cup Quarter-Final on Sunday 10th January (4pm) at the Canon Medical Arena in a single leg affair. The Semi-Finals will take place on the following weekend (15th - 17th January) over 2-legs and opponents will be decided in an open draw. The final will again take place at the AO Arena in Manchester on Sunday 21st March 2027.
