We are just 48 hours away from one of the highlights of the basketball calendar…Opening Night! We caught up with new signing Rene Castro-Caneddy, the returning dunk-machine Dirk Williams, Sharks and England skipper Mike Tuck and Head Coach Atiba Lyons for their thoughts on an exciting campaign ahead.

New signing Rene Castro-Caneddy is 24 years old and is a point guard out of Duquesne University. He told us of his aims and ambitions for the season and his fondness for an inspirational quote or two!

He needs no introduction to Sharks fans. The slam-dunking, three point shooting, defensive blocking Dirk Williams is back in Sheffield for another season and he told us of his experiences during the summer with Oklahoma City Thunder and his desire to set the record straight from last year.

We’ve got a season of ‘tenths’ this year. We welcome back Sharks and England Captain Mike Tuck for his tenth season in the famous blue and yellow. What would the young Mike Tuck have thought about his more mature self staying with the same club for ten years? Listen to Mike’s rallying cry and find out below.

Head Coach Atiba Lyons celebrates ten years at the helm of South Yorkshire’s number one team this season. Hear his thoughts on the campaign to come and what to expect from our opening night opponents, Manchester Giants.
