Super League Basketball Trophy Group Stage
The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks face an instant re-match with Cheshire Phoenix this Sunday, looking to gain revenge for last week’s five point home defeat in game two of the Super League Basketball Trophy Group Stage. The ‘Nix battled back from being down by thirteen points in the second quarter to seize the win late in the fourth and inflict a second defeat of the weekend on the Sharks. The Sharks won the first encounter between the two last season in Ellesmere Port and will be looking to take victory there again to get that opening win on the board.

TJ Atwood – Another who was very effective late in the encounter on his debut for the ‘Nix. His 12 points, 5 rebounds and an assist came from 31 minutes of court time as the former Plymouth standout grew into his role.
Skyler White – Most attempts and most makes from beyond the arc for the Phoenix (5/9) last weekend to finish with 15 points and a team-high plus/minus of 16. Cheshire Captain for 2024-25.

Shark Bites
The Sharks first 2 games this season have seen them hold the lead for 51 minutes and 39 seconds, whilst trailing for just over 19 minutes in total. Unfortunately, the Sharks have been outscored in all four second half quarters.
Starting the season with two losses last weekend was just the fifth time this has happened to the Sharks in their 31 seasons. The 0-2 start first happened in 2012-13 where the Sharks went on to win the BBL Trophy. The next 0-2 start to the campaign was in 2015-16 and they finished that season by winning the Play Off Final at the O2 Arena. Fingers crossed!
The last time the Sharks beat Cheshire in the Trophy was in March 2013.
In the most recent 23 games between Sheffield and Cheshire, all competitions included, the Phoenix have 19 wins. The Sharks have visited Ellesmere Port Sports Village 19 times, winning on 6 occasions.
