The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks are back! A nineteen day break from competitive action comes to an end as GB Head Coach Marc Steutel brings his Newcastle Eagles side to the Canon Medical Arena for some Friday night hoops. Steutel oversaw that heartbreaking loss on the buzzer to Lithuania and the tremendous win over Iceland that keeps GB in World Cup qualification contention but now all eyes return to the domestic game and the resumption of SLB. The Sharks went into the break on a high with that impressive win over Manchester – will they pick up where they left off?

The Sharks currently have a 7 win, 4 loss record in this season’s SLB Championship. Their 8th Championship win will be the 700th for the club in the Championship only since being formed in 1994.
The Sharks are 5-0 in Championship games against Newcastle Eagles at the Canon Medical Arena with the Eagles averaging 72.8 points per game in those 5 losses.
The Sharks and the Eagles meet each other on the next two Fridays having previously met on November 14th. The Sharks then played Manchester on November 16th followed by a 19 day gap in their fixtures, thereby playing the same opposition – Newcastle – in 3 games out of 4. This is only the 8th time in club history this has happened.
Since September 2000 Rodney Chatman became only the 6th player to end a game with a personal haul of 35 points that he achieved in the last home fixture. There are only 17 instances in the same timescale of a Sharks player scoring more than 35 points in a game. They are: Mike Cook (x4), Jeff Bonds (x3) and the single efforts from Sterling Davis, Justin Dobbins, Jimmy Langhurst, Rob Yanders, Steve Parillon, Chris Alexander, Prentiss Nixon, Marcus Stout, Dirk Williams and Ryan Patten.
