The DBL Sharks Sheffield have announced the return of dynamic guard Chris Alexander for a second season with the Yorkshire franchise.
Alexander who came to the Sharks following a seven year spell in Germany, wowed audiences with his speed and agility during their recent campaign which saw the Sharks reach the Trophy final.
Overall the 6”1 guard averaged a statistics line with 17 pts 5 assists and 2 steals per game to secure a return to the blue and Yellow for another season in the Sharks tank.
“We are delighted to see the return of Chris, he had so many games where he really took apart the opposition offensively and he demonstrated why he was so consistent in Germany, because he has a strong work ethic and a professional approach to his job” said GM Sarah Backovic. “We look forward to another season to consolidate on a job done well”.
Alexander joins returning Captain Mike Tuck for the 2018/19 season and both are looking forward to the task in hand.
“I’m excited to have Alexander back on board, it always helps to have some familiarity at the start of the season and I know Chris is a tough competitor so if we continue down that route it will be a strong season ahead”, said Captain Mike Tuck.
Meanwhile, Alexander who has returned to his native Texas, reflected on his time in Sheffield and was thrilled to announce his return.
“I didn’t know what to expect when I came to England from Germany, but I had a great time in Sheffield and overall had an enjoyable season on the court”, said Alexander. “I think we just fell short losing a few games by 1 or 2 points so I would like another opportunity to put that right”.
The Sharks continue their summer break with the upcoming community inter school tournament “Respect project” which takes place at the EISS on 26 July. In excess of 100 participants will take part in a basketball development programme aimed at improving community relations.
