Super League Basketball Championship
A massive and very challenging double-header of SLB Championship action awaits the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks this coming weekend. The Sharks make a first trip of the season to Guildford on Friday evening to take on a Surrey 89ers side that are unbeaten in their last three games. Then on Sunday afternoon, the league-leading London Lions come to South Yorkshire for what promises to be one of the encounters of the season. Can the Sharks aspire to the levels they showed in last week’s terrific take-down of Manchester Basketball? You need to be with us all the way to find out!

Ones To Watch
Tyrin Lawrence – Pure shooter who torched Caledonia in the Niners last game. 30 points for the recent signing came at a 70% clip as Surrey made it three wins on the bounce on the road in Scotland.
Isiah Small – Influential forward who has many attributes to his game. Weighed in with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals as the men in green took a 73-86 road win over the Gladiators.
Ronald Polite III – Quality facilitator who pulled the strings for his side with 6 assists in the victory over Caledonia. Not only that, he also added 16 points and pulled down 7 boards as the Surrey momentum gathers.
Kino Lily Jr – A little quiet in Scotland but clearly a very effective scorer as his season stats of 17.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists suggest.

Ones To Watch
Ciaran Sandy – Homegrown Brit who shone in the Lions latest victory over in-form Newcastle. His 14 point, 7 rebound display was one of the keys to the astonishing 50-76 road win.
Aaryn Rai – A slightly different role for the do-it-all ‘point forward’ this season but is still clearly a danger man. 10 big rebounds against Newcastle and the Lions were positive 16 while ever he was on court.
Shavar Reynolds Jr – American guard who put up a very tidy 15 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists in the victory over the Eagles from just over 21 minutes on court. Has experience in the Netherlands, Cyprus and most recently in Greece with PAOK Thessaloniki.
Ethan Price – Originates from Bury St Edmunds and has represented his country at Under 18 level. A very solid 12 point, 6 rebound outing against Newcastle to cement London at the top of the standings with a 12-2 record.

The Sharks and the 89ers meet on Friday with the 89ers having won the last 2 matches between the clubs. The last time a team based in Guildford called Surrey won 3 consecutive games against the Sharks was when Surrey Heat won on 30 September 2012, 14 October 2012 and 23 December 2012.
Friday will be the Sharks 25th visit to Surrey Sports Park since their initial game there on 27 October 2010. Sharks have recorded 18 wins and 6 losses but on their last 4 trips to Guildford have one win and 3 defeats.
The Sharks and London Lions meet for the first time this season on Sunday, having not met in the first 122 days of the campaign. They then meet 4 times in 84 days.
The Lions are the only visiting team with a winning record at the Canon Medical Arena, having won on 3 of their 4 visits. The Sharks have lost just 9 Championship games since moving to the CMA in October 2023, a third of those coming against the Lions. Over the last 2 seasons, the Lions have recorded just one loss against the Sharks in a total of 8 games.
