The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks welcome the return Marcus Delpeche for the 2022-2023 season. Naturalised British basketballer Marcus enters his second season as a Shark having signed last season from BBL rivals, Bristol Flyers, where he starred for three seasons.
Delpeche, a native of Delaware, USA, who previously enjoyed a stint in Germany, is looking forward to meeting the challenges presented by the season ahead. “We enjoyed a successful campaign in the Championship last year and we were looking to make the finals, but we ran out of steam especially after losing Twon (Antwain Johnson) and Rod (Glasgow Jr) to injury down the stretch.”
6’7 Power Forward/Centre Delpeche recorded season statistics averaging 24 mins, 8 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist per game.
“I really enjoyed my first year in Sheffield. On the whole I was happy with my performance in the role I was asked to play last season, but I expect a lot from myself and I’m looking forward to be able to contribute a lot more moving forward to help the club and give the fans something to shout about!”
The Big man game has seen a resurgence over recent seasons to what was traditionally a guard dominated league and this trend looks set to continue with clubs looking to compete in European competition. This has led to Coach Atiba Lyons seeking to ensure the Sharks remain competitive in this department.
“Marcus is big, strong, athletic, moves quickly in the transition game and a fighter, so I’ll be looking to exploit these strengths more so this season. He’s a great team mate too, which is important when you’re looking to compete for honours. I’m pleased to welcome him back and I look forward to working with him again.”
The Sharks take on the London Lions in the first match of the season Friday, 23rd September in Sheffield at 7:30pm LIVE on Sky Sports.
