Sheffield, UK - 10th August, 2024 - The B. Braun Sheffield Sharks announce the signing of Jamell Anderson for the 2024-25 Super League Basketball season.

The 34-year-old British forward joins the Sheffield Sharks after playing with the Manchester Giants last season. Jamell is a vastly experienced player within the highest level of the British game, making his debut in September 2009, having played for Essex Pirates, Leicester Riders, Cheshire Phoenix and the Manchester Giants during his career. During last season's stint with the Giants, Anderson averaged 14.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the Lancashire side, which earned him a selection in the North All-Star team.

Anderson has also played on an international level on several occasions; for GB and most notably for England in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where he and his teammates won gold in dramatic fashion against Australia in the 3x3 competition.

Jamell is looking forward to making the transition across the Pennines, “Having played against the Sharks for many years, I know what the team is about and I’m really pleased to be coming to Sheffield for the 2024-25 season. I have had plenty of conversations with former teammates who have played for the Sharks before, and all spoke very highly of the team, city and of course the fanbase. The club is heading in a great direction and I feel it’s a great time to come onboard”.

Sharks Head Coach Atiba Lyons is excited with the addition of Anderson, stating “Jamell is obviously someone we know a lot about. He’s been in the league for a long time and has always acquitted himself very well. I really like his work ethic and outlook on playing basketball, and know that he will be a great fit in Sheffield. His defensive attributes blend very well with my style of play, and I’m excited to now have him play for us rather than be named on the scouting report! His experience speaks for itself and the fact he was selected as an All-Star last season demonstrates the level he still plays his game”.
