DBL Sharks Sheffield have announced an addition to the roster in the form of 6’8 Power forward Leslee Smith.

Smith a native of the British Virgin Islands and a resident of Houston Texas, USA, has signed for the Sharks following a brief exit to Germany from previous BBL club the Bristol Flyers.

Graduating from Nebraska University NCAA D1, Smith averaged 5 points per game which translated to 15 points and 15 rebounds per game from his last season in the BBL.

“We were looking for a big man position since the departure of club favourite Tony Wroblicky and over the summer we struggled to see the right fit. Fortunately, Leslee became available and we were happy to get the deal done,” said Coach Atiba Lyons.

Leslee has spent the last month getting fit and ready for the season in his hometown of Houston, following his return from Germany.

“I wasn’t quite ready for the season for a number of personal reasons, however since I have been home I have focussed on my fitness and getting in good shape to take on the season ahead,” said Smith. “I am looking forward to getting to Sheffield and getting started I am sure we can turn the season around there are a lot of great players on board”.

Smith will be ready to play on Friday 19th October when the Sharks take on the Glasgow Rocks at the EISS tip off at 7.30pm.
