The B Braun Sharks are very proud to announce Bennett Koch will be back at the club for the upcoming 2020-21 BBL season.

The announcement was uniquely made via a Sharks Facebook Live stream at 7:30pm on Wednesday evening, where the Sharks GameDay Announcer, Mike Shaft, revealed Koch and then proceeded with a short interview.

The 6’10, American, had a successful first campaign with the Sharks, earning his way into the Sharks starting line-up and being a contributor from the start.

“I’m excited about coming back. I had a great overall experience in Sheffield, it’s a shame it ended the way it did. It will be great to get back and build off of the things we accomplished last season.”

The 3rd year pro out of Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin (just outside of Green Bay) comes from a basketball family. Bennett and his two older brothers all attended and had successful careers at Northern Iowa University.

Sharks GM Sarah Backovic is pleased with the signing.

“Bennett is another guy on our team that comes from great basketball pedigree and a basketball family. We were extremely happy with his performance last season and are excited to see how he develops moving forward.”

The 25-year-old Centre averaged 11.3pts & 6.4rebs through all competitions. Koch saw a Sharks career high of 25 pts v Newcastle in December and a Sharks career high of 17rebs v Leicester in November in a BBL Cup match. He also registered 6th in the league last season for offensive rebounds.

Bennett is the Sharks 6th player announcement so far, joining Mike Tuck, Mackey McKnight, Nicholas Lewis, Rob Marsden, and Callum Jones.

“Everybody loves Bennett on and off the court. He has a great attitude and is exactly what we were looking for in the forward/centre slot. I’m confident he will continue to grow off the success of last season.”
